Todays Update from Nassau
6/25/2025
Thanks for your patience as we took a few days to share an update on the Nassau trip. We’ve had some technical difficulties updating the website from outside the US, but think we have a workaround now.
The team arrived in Nassau around 10 am on Saturday after a very early 2:30 am departure from the church, but very smooth travels. Our first time (or first time as an adult) flyers were so brave and did great!
After dropping our bags at the camp, we headed to Pastor George’s church, Heritage Missionary Baptist, and spent the afternoon sorting and sorting and sorting all the donations for the week’s clothing and personal care item giveaways. Everyone’s generosity was truly remarkable, and we’re meeting so many basic needs as a result.
Sunday morning, we headed to Heritage Missionary Baptist for Sunday morning services. If you’ve ever experienced Caribbean worship, you won’t be surprised to hear that it was an incredible time of spirit-filled praise. Pastor George’s sermon challenged us to expect something new in the 2nd half of 2025, and that’s become a common refrain for the team this week.
After church, we enjoyed a tour of the island, including stops at several important historical sites and just taking in all the natural beauty of this amazing place.
Sunday evening, we joined MCC’s very good friend Pastor Sterling at his church, where they were celebrating the 12th anniversary of the beginning of his ministry there. At both the morning and evening church services, we were able to participate, with a reading by Kaelyn, a message from Rob, and a beautiful song from Brittany and Mandy.
Monday morning, the work began. Six people headed out to the work project, building a structure on Pastor George’s land. It was a long, hot day, but the team made great progress on the concrete work. The rest of the team headed out to pray over the park where they’d later do a clothing giveaway, then transported 18 totes of clothing and personal care products to the park to distribute to the local community. Everything was gone in less than 30 minutes, which is a stunning example of the deep need in the community. Then the team was off to the first children’s home visit for the week, where the kids enjoyed MCC’s famous string tricks and making bracelets, and just generally having fun and soaking up attention from our team.
Tuesday morning was back to the worksite for the project team. The ministry team headed to the Great Commission, which is a ministry that serves the homeless in Nassau. We spent the morning helping in the kitchen, packing grocery bags, sorting all kinds of donations, and painting stairs. God’s love truly lives in all the workers at the ministry, and we were able to bless several of the guests as we came and went. Then it was back to the church for more sorting, then one of the most anticipated activities: a visit to the Ranfurly children’s home, which several of the team had visited last year. We were able to bless the kids with shoes in their exact sizes, snacks, string tricks, friendship bracelet making, basketball, and great conversations. Amazing kids in difficult circumstances. Such a blessing to see their smiles again.
Wednesday morning was back to the worksite for the project team, but we only let Pastor George work them for half a day today. 🙂
The ministry team headed to Father Marshall park to cover the park in prayer and worship ahead of the afternoon clothing distribution. We were able to serve by picking up litter and sharing God’s love with several local residents. Then back to the church to finish up sorting, meet up with the project team, and head back to the park for the clothing giveaway. We blessed the local neighborhood with about 15 totes of clothing!
Then the team headed to a nursing home. We got to spend time singing and talking and blessing the residents with bags of treats. The conditions were hard to witness, as nursing homes here have very different standards than what we expect in the US. But it was incredible to experience singing Jesus Loves Me with the residents – some can’t talk or see or really communicate, but they all recognized the melody and did their best to sing along.
Pastor George and his family have been fantastic hosts, planning all of our ministry and work events and making sure we’re very well-fed! Caribbean cooking, trying new fruits, fresh coconut water – all great stuff. The team has experienced a few snafus, hiccups, bumps & bruises along the way, but God is moving in a big way among us. The people we didn’t know well before the trip are becoming new friends in Christ, and we’re doing our very best to make sure the people of Nassau know that the people of Medina love them and want to serve them in Jesus’ name.

Please continue to pray for our team and our ministry partners in Nassau. Many of us have been feeling spiritual pressure on relationships, negative thoughts, doubts, emotions. Per Ephesians 6 we know we are fighting a spiritual battle and because of the ministry we intend to do this summer, we are experiencing opposition to our plans.
Please pray for the opportunities we will have: in four locations during the week we will be distributing clothing and a meal or/or pantry items in partnership with local churches. We will be visiting the two children’s homes on the island and a retirement home. At all these events we will be presenting the Good News of Jesus’ saving grace.
We are collecting donations of new and gently used clothing and new socks and undergarments for distribution in four communities on the island, coordinating with six local churches. We are also collecting non-perishable pantry and personal hygiene items for homeless and those living in the shanty towns. Donations are being collected at the church – 416 S.Broadway
Along with the clothing, pantry, and hygiene items, we will be shipping construction tools to be shared with the local churches to help their communities with repairs and construction.
To help financially, either make checks out to Medina Community Church earmarked for Nassau Missions Trip or use the “GIVE” button above and designate the donation to the Nassau Missions Trip fund.
Thank you for your prayer, material, and financial support.
