Ontrack (Jr. High)
Without a Jr. High ministry students begin to wander in their faith. We have found that this ministry is a vital bridge between elementary school and High School. We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00 utilyzing the Student Life Bible Study curriculum. This excellent study provides a very good overview of the entire Bible over a six year cylcle.
Our Jr. High students love to come back in the evening (5-6:30 p.m) to experience youth group. We meet to have some fun while covering more topical issues in a relaxed, informal setting. We currently are covering topics by first watching a video segment from a recently released video.
We also have a number of activities which provide opportunities for our kids to bring their friends. We have all-nighters, trips to Kalaharri Waterpark, skating, Laserquest, and cook-outs. One of the kid's favorite games is an old school one called Kick the Cans. Whatever the activity, rest assured the teens are NEVER bored. We believe church should be a blast. They're learning about how vital a relationship with the Lord is during a time when there are lots of questions about life and self-image.
Satellite (High School)
High school students are at a vitally important crossroads in their lives. They are in a unique position to grow, learn, and do as never before. Satellite ministries addresses high school students’ unique challenges, needs, and opportunities through quality programming, meaningful community, relevant teaching, and plenty of ministry opportunities to encourage them to grow in their faith while having a great time.
Our High School students have an excellent Sunday School class using the Student Life curriculum. Over a six year period, our teens study the entire Bible. The class meets Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
In the evening (6:30-8:00 p.m.) we come back for a more informal time where we cover a variety of topics in a more informal setting. We also sprinkle in a number of youth outings like rock climbing, a Christmas gift exchange, snow sking in New York, retreats, ect.
Satellite currently engages in such ministries as the annual Harvest Party, Easter Celebration, and summer Vacation Bible Schoo (VBS). During VBS, several Satellite youth serve as co-teachers.
Satellite has a three-year missions rotation. Next June (2012) our teens are heading out to Indiana to minister at Camp Ray Bird - a summer camp that reaches out to at risk kids from the inter-city of South Bend. Other trips involve evangelism at Myrtle Beach and a cross-cultural trip to the Bahammas.
We believe that our youth are not the church of the future, but rather a vital part of the church today. As a result, our teens serve in our children's ministry, worship team, sound and video areas and Vacation Bible School. They also lead in the planning and ministry of two major children outreaches - Harvest Party and Easter Celebration. At MCC, youth are definitely well involved which makes for a much easier adult involvement down the road.
